The applications of tachometers in the industrial field are many. In addition to measurement of the number of revolutions of rotating objects (shafts, rotors, pulleys, gears, couplings) the speed or length of conveyor belts and metric count of products can also be measured.
In fact, the tachometers, through the use of a measuring wheel anchored on the rotation shaft, can also be used for length and linear velocity measurements.
Some tachometer models also allow the contactless measurement of the rotating object. Using a reflection sign and a light beam emitted by the instrument it is possible to detect the rotation speed without any contact of the measuring instrument with the rotating object.
In these cases they can also measure objects at a safe distance (large moving parts with operator protection zones) or objects such as very high rotation speeds (situations in which the instrument/object coupling may not even be guaranteed in an optimal way).
