Comparators

The comparator is a measuring instrument used for linear displacement measurements, oscillations, shape errors, positions and vibrations.

The comparator uses a linear transducer, generally cylindrical in shape, and a viewer to indicate movement of the auction. The end of the rod, called the probe, is in contact with the surface of the object being measured.

The comparators are generally made with miniaturized indicators and with very low consumption, so much so that they can be easily powered by a common battery button. The comparator displays are normally made with a resolution of 0,01 mm (hundredths), 0,001 mm (thousandths). Some special models of comparators can also reach sub-micron resolutions.

Some comparator models are also equipped with communication port to be able to transfer the data to an external device ( PLC, PC, remote displays or data acquisition systems ).

The data transfer can take place either through a physical connection cable or through wireless connections.
